Bio:
Since joining the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in 1975, Steve Slate has held several impactful positions. He is currently applying his mechanical engineering training and extensive business experience to reengineer business systems and processes to improve the R&D experience and to increase effectiveness and efficiency of PNNL operations. He has led teams to define and improve PNNL’s engineering and asset management processes and hazard work controls, and he has led or contributed to a number of operational improvement projects, including reengineering PNNL’s facility readiness process and improving PNNL’s export control program. Prior to this, Mr. Slate led applied research projects, led large engineering-scale demonstrations, managed PNNL’s environmental S&T program (>$200M and 100+ technologies over six years), and managed company-level strategic and business planning functions.
